Music

Wow.  Music. I love music. I love how it takes you to another place. It transports you to another world. When it creates the feeling that there’s nobody else in the world except you and the song. I love how music tells a story. Often, one you can identify with. When you’re feeling down a song can change your mood. Direct your thoughts to somewhere else. Music is art.
Music was introduced in to my life by my Dad. He had a love of music from a very young age. The bands that come to mind when thinking of my dad are Bon JoviGuns N RosesTom Petty & the HeartbreakersOasis.

When I think of my mum I think of Bette Midler and recently (despite her age :P) she loves Rihanna and J-Lo. That will always make me giggle. I cannot forget UFO. This is the song in which I learned to ‘head bang’ to. I remember my Uncle calling to the house while we were all in the middle of a jam. A fantastic song.

Another great thing about music is memories. I am able to tell you about all of these songs and these songs in particular because they are associated with memories that I have in my life. I remember the day I received my first iPod. The iPod nano. This was also where my love for Apple products began. Something you will hear about soon.

At the age of 7, my parents brought me to a Britney Spears concert. In that same year I went to see Steps. Concerts I will never forget. This built the foundation of my love for music. The entertainment that music provides simply cannot be put in to words. I have been lucky enough to see Florence & the Machine, The Coronas, The Script, I went to Oxegen, Paramore, Foo Fighters and I’m sure I’m even forgetting a few.  In November I am going to see Volcano Choir. A band my Boyfriend loves. Another thing that’s great about music is that there are numerous genres and no one person is confined to any. I personally like a bit of everything. This is probably reflected in the bands that I have listed already. There are people who are on my ‘to-see list’. These include: Bastille, OneRepublic, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Mumford & Sons, Imagine Dragons to name but a few. These are events that I have to look forward to, something that is in the future and something that I love. If you have never been to a concert or have never really enjoyed concerts that you have attended then don’t give up yet. Music links people together. Millions of people all around the world travel far and wide to see their favourite artists. Music is an escape, an enjoyment, a passion, an art, a love.

The links that I have put up here are some of my favourite songs. Of course, there are too many to link. My iTunes contains over 1000 songs! Please share any songs that you like too.
